HRDAG’s Year in Review: 2024

This year at HRDAG we’ve been thinking a lot about artificial intelligence and how we can take advantage of its strengths in the toolkits we use with our partners.

We are careful about how we use machine learning and AI models. We take advantage of their strengths, such as scale and replicability, and minimize their weaknesses by reviewing specific evaluation metrics. We run tests to make sure that the models get the “right” answer and extract the correct information.

Our 2024 year in review pays special attention to the Citizens Police Data Project in Chicago, the Louisiana Law Enforcement Database, and the National Police Index. The report is available as a 4-page PDF.

Once again, we’re so grateful to our funders and our advisory board for supporting us, and we’re honored to do this important work. I hope you enjoy the review! (Reviews from 2018201920202021, 2022, and 2023 are available online, too.)
