Laurel Eckhouse is a quantitative social scientist focused on racial inequality and the criminal legal system, currently working at Code for America. She is interested in complicated concepts, messy data, and using research to address injustice. Laurel has a PhD in political science from UC Berkeley and has been a faculty member at the University of Denver and the Prison University Project.

Our work has been used by truth commissions, international criminal tribunals, and non-governmental human rights organizations. We have worked with partners on projects on five continents.
