Announcing New HRDAG Advisory Board Member

HRDAG is delighted to announce a new addition to our Advisory Board, Elizabeth Eagen. She joins Chair Julie Broome and members Alex Hanna, William Isaac, Naomi Roht-Arriaza, and Paul Wesson.

Elizabeth is currently Deputy Director of the Citizens and Technology Lab at Cornell University, which works with communities to study the effects of technology on society and test ideas for changing digital spaces so that digital power is guided by evidence and accountable to the public. She has worked with and admired HRDAG for many years, drawn to the way in which its human rights practice operates on the leading edge of some of the most pressing questions of standardization, accuracy, and validation of facts. She also appreciates HRDAG’s accord with frontline researchers, people and organizations at the heart of the experience of rights abrogation, and the way that the organization chooses and enacts projects with those people’s agency and needs in mind.

“I’ve worked with Elizabeth in several capacities and have always appreciated how deeply she understands HRDAG’s mission and what we bring to the field of human rights and data science,” says Executive Director Megan Price. “She’ll be a fantastic addition to the HRDAG Advisory Board.”

“I hope to see the organization continue to expand and grow with new partners, and to continue its cutting-edge research,” says Elizabeth. “HRDAG is mission-critical to the protection of human rights.”
