Mailing List Subscription
We use Mailchimp to help us keep track of community members who want to stay informed about what HRDAG is doing and thinking. If you self-subscribe to our list, we will never share your contact information. We will never subscribe anyone who does not explicitly agree to a subscription.
Over the course of a year, we mail quarterly letters and fundraising letters, as well as one or two updates as events demand. If, during the course of a fundraising campaign, you make a donation, we will do our best to remove you from the remainder of fundraising mailings that year. We may use your contact information to invite you to our annual Open House.
We use the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as a model for maintaining the privacy of our users and subscribers.
Do Not Track
When you turn on the do-not-track feature, your browser (Firefox or Chrome, for example) tells every website you visit (as well as their advertisers and other content providers) that you do not want your browsing behavior tracked. Honoring this setting is voluntary—individual websites are not yet required to respect it—but HRDAG absolutely respects the request. When you turn on your browser’s do-not-track feature, none of the social media tracking widgets will load, so those sites will not know that you have visited us. We will not set cookies on your computer. Do-not-track is an easy feature to turn on; here is Firefox’s help guide for doing so; here is some information on Chrome’s DoNotTrackMe feature.
The do-not-track feature is a mechanism for protecting online privacy that specifically addresses the challenge of pervasive online web tracking. For a thorough discussion of the history, technology and policies behind “Do Not Track,” we recommend you read the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s explanation. Here is EFF’s “How to Turn on Do Not Track in Your Browser” article, which provides step-by-step instructions for Safari, Internet Explorer 9, Firefox, and Google Chrome.
HTTPS Everywhere
HTTPS Everywhere is a Firefox and Chrome extension that encrypts your communications with many major websites, making your browsing more secure. You may find more information about these extensions at the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s webpage.
All of our pages on the HRDAG website automatically redirect any request for an http:// address to an https:// address. That way no one monitoring your web traffic can see what you’re browsing. They can see that you’re visiting hrdag.org, but they cannot see which pages you view.
If you have questions about our privacy policy, please send them via email to info @ hrdag.org.
