Larissa was born and raised in Mexico, where she worked at the Ministry of Public Health as a statistical analyst for the institution responsible for providing healthcare to uninsured and underprivileged populations. There, she entered a world where political, bureaucratic, medical, and very rarely common sense converged. With limited data, funding, and tools, and an ever-present sense of urgency, her role was to produce statistical insights to prevent an already fragile healthcare system from collapsing. That experience motivated her to pursue a master’s degree in Statistics at UC Berkeley (ongoing), which led her to the Global Rights Innovation Lab (GRIL) Clinic at UC Berkeley Law and eventually to HRDAG.

In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her dogs, family, and friends (usually not all at the same time), doing puzzles, and playing board games. She also conceptually enjoys going outside and moving a little.

Our work has been used by truth commissions, international criminal tribunals, and non-governmental human rights organizations. We have worked with partners on projects on five continents.
