Donate with Cryptocurrency
Help HRDAG use data science to work for justice, accountability, and human rights. We are nonpartisan and nonprofit, but we are not neutral; we are always on the side of human rights.
Cryptocurrency donations to 501(c)3 charities receive the same tax treatment as stocks. Your donation is a non-taxable event, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and can deduct it on your taxes. This makes Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency donations one of the most tax efficient ways to support us.
We are a team of experts in machine learning, applied and mathematical statistics, computer science, demography, and social science, and our work helps prosecutors, journalists, and grassroots activists on issues such as police misconduct, reconciliation, and policy reform.
HRDAG has been promoting the use of strong cryptography in our work— for encryption and authentication—for more than 25 years. We understand the moral issues, the technical issues, and the stakes when sensitive human rights information is organized in digital formats. Highlights of our work in crypto include director of research Patrick Ball’s work at Benetech to develop Martus, a free, open source software application that allows users anywhere in the world to securely gather and organize information about human rights violations.
If you want to learn more about how donating crypto can lower your taxes, check out thegivingblock.com/faq. Our crypto platform, The Giving Block, provides the tax receipts via email.
Please note that your donation to HRDAG will appear as a donation to Community Partners, our fiscal sponsor.
