Announcing New HRDAG Advisory Board Member
HRDAG is delighted to announce a new addition to our Advisory Board, Dorothy Chou, who came on board in March, 2026. She joins Cynthia Conti-Cook, Elizabeth Eagen, Alex Hanna, and Paul Wesson.
Currently, Dorothy leads the Public Engagement Lab at Google DeepMind, where she helps shape how society envisions and prepares for AI-enabled futures.
A long-time advocate for transparency and equity in tech, she joins HRDAG at a moment when there is growing attention on how AI tools are built and used. Dorothy hopes to bring to HRDAG informed insights into how to use AI in the sensitive domain of human rights, which requires a deeper understanding of the people and institutions affected, as well as a sense of urgency around building trust.
“As HRDAG expands our AI toolkit I am grateful that we will have the benefit of Dorothy’s sharp thinking about AI systems and their impact on society,” says Executive Director Megan Price. “In the human rights world, AI can be an incredible tool, but we have a heightened responsibility to use it with our core values in mind.”
“What I love about HRDAG is that it represents the very best of what AI/ML can do in the world. It is rigorous without losing sight of humanity, and deeply principled without becoming abstract,” says Dorothy. “HRDAG has shown, again and again, that careful analysis can help uncover truth, support justice, and make visible what others would prefer to hide.”
We are so pleased by the growth of our Advisory Board and by the dedication, expertise, and wisdom they bring. As always, we’re indebted to our Advisory Board and our funders for their support and vision.
